NCDHHS Adult Mental Health Services

The statewide Adult Mental Health Services division administers several specialized programs for adults seriously affected by mental illness or substance abuse or in a crisis. Some of the programs available at little to no cost include:

  • Assertive Community Treatment and intensive in-home care to help adults with serious mental illness remain in their homes and receive treatment.
  • Critical Time Intervention is time-sensitive help for society’s most vulnerable members during critical periods of transition or who are in a mental health crisis.

National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) of Wake County

NAMI connects individuals to the right support group for their needs, including:

  • Connection Support Group
  • Family Support Group
  • Stress & Anxiety Support Group
  • LGBT+ Mental Health Support Group
  • Survivors of Suicide Attempts Support Group

Haven House Services – Youth Outreach Program

The Haven House provides emergency shelter for youths and those 24 and under and group counseling support for LGBT+, sexual abuse, or domestic abuse victims. It also offers individual and family therapy for youth involved with gangs, those needing restitution, and those at-risk for delinquent behaviors.
