Vermont ranks 7th among all US states in the prevalence of mental health conditions, yet also ranks 2nd in the prevalence of mental healthcare availability. What this proves if anything is that people need more access to mental health facilities and treatment. Around 4.7% of Vermonter adults live with a serious mental illness, so this is an obvious set of problems. Fortunately, there’s help. No shortage of providers (or shortage of funds) should ever prevent you from getting the help you deserve. The following resources are free of charge, confidential, and available to all Vermont residents. Help yourself or someone you love today.
Pathways to Vermont Support Line
Staffed by Vermont residents, this line is available to callers over 18 struggling with sadness, loneliness, depression and other difficult situations. The Pathways to Vermont Support line was created in 2013 by the state to provide immediate access to compassionate support. They aim to provide a ‘warm line’ different than a crisis or emergency hotline, but to prevent an escalating emergency. They are available 24/7 for via call or text (833) VT-TALKS (833)-888-2557
